Medical Transcription Tutorials : Train Yourself Through Audio Files

Medical Transcription Training through Audio / Voice files, in order to get used with it or in order to avaoid  the difficulty and types. Step #1:- The audio dictations in this section cover many of the specialties. Go through each audio file, transcribe them in your word editor and then compare them with the final transcribed version. These dictations would expose you to the real world of medical transcription. After listening to these audio dictations and going through the transcripts, you will understand the process of medical dictation transcription. Hear through each audio carefully! 

 

Step #2:- This section consists of audio files narrating some commonly used abbreviations in transcription. Abbreviations are used very frequently by physicians in their dictations. Knowledge of some of the most frequently used abbreviations therefore becomes essential. Often the same abbreviation has two or more different meanings. However, with practice and depending on the content one can easily identify to which definition the abbreviation is relating to. Transcribe these abbreviations and then compare them with the final transcript in the Transcribed Documents section.

Step #3:- The physical examination is one of the most important aspects of a medical dictation. As a medical transcriptionist, you will come across this part virtually in almost every medical recording. Therefore, we prepared some audios having several types of such dictations. These dictations will give you ample amount of practice for quality transcription. So start transcribing these dictations and then compare your transcripts with those from Transcribed Documents in Step 3.

 

What is Medical Transcription ?

Medical Transcription is basically converting voice recorded reports in to text format.  It also known as MT, is an allied with health profession, which deals in the process of transcription, or converting voice-recorded reports as dictated by physicians and/or other healthcare professionals, into text format.

Now a days, many individuals, who performs medical transcription is known as a medical transcriptionist or an MT.  The equipment the MT uses is called a medical transcriber.  The individual who performs medical transcription should always be called a "medical transcriptionist." A medical transcriptionist is the person responsible for converting the patient's medical records into typewritten format rather than handwritten, the latter more prone to misinterpretation by other healthcare providers. The term transcriber describes the electronic equipment used in performing medical transcription, e.g., a cassette player with foot controls operated by the MT for report playback and transcription. In the late 1990s, medical transcriptionists were also given the title of Medical Language Specialist or Health Information Management (HIM) paraprofessional.
